How to scan your documents on Android with Office Lens

Today we are going to teach you how to scan and scan documents on Android , and we will do it with the Microsoft Office Lens application. It is a free application that the company launched in the operating system of Google in 2015, and that having no payment methods or need a Microsoft account has become one of the best alternatives with CamScanner.

With this application, you basically have to focus on pointing with the camera, wait for the box to adjust to the outline of the document and shoot. The app takes into account the angle from which you take the image to process it and scan it in an efficient way without having to be strictly in front of it.

The first thing you have to do is download the application from Google Play and install it like any other. In order to use it you need to have Android 4.4 KitKat or later versions of the operating system, and it will ask you permission to access your camera to take photos, your contacts to find accounts with which to share documents and storage to save scanned documents.

Scanning documents with Office Lens

Focus on the Object

First of all you have to point to the document you want to scan. On the screen of the application a box or rectangle will appear that may analyze the surface on which this document is. Wait until the box that is scanning it covers only the document you want to scan.

Fixed Object

When the box of the application is fixed, you will see that it outlines the paper or document that you want to scan, adapting to its different angles resulting from the angle of vision from which you have taken the photo. Once this outline is fixed press the button with the orange circle to take the photo.

In just a few tenths of a second the application will process the image and show you the document you have scanned. You already have it digitized, and you just have to press the Save button to save the image on your mobile. You also have a button with the trash can to shoot the image and a Replace button with which to scan the document again.

Scanned document

We have scanned this other document almost sideways. The application is able to recognize the inclination with which you take the photo and adjust the sizes of the document so that it always seems that the photograph was taken straight and in front of the document, respecting at all times the edges that it has bounded with the camera mode.

Share OR Save

Once you click the save button you can edit the name of the document and choose one or more services to save them. Being an application from Microsoft gives priority to your applications, but you can select the option Gallery so that it is simply saved on your mobile as a photo that you can share with any other application.

More options

One last thing you have to keep in mind is that the application has the icon of a document in the upper left. If you click on it, you can choose what type of scan you want to make, be it a document, a blackboard, a photo or a business card. The app will be optimized to try to offer a good result depending on this option.
